How to Boost Your Confidence in Abundance

Wayne was shy, overweight, and popping dozens of pills every day to deal with chronic back pain. He was quickly losing touch with himself. In December of 2011, he decided he was sick of it all and signed up for a Yoga Retreat almost a year away. He had never taken a single yoga class at this point.

He felt this was the answer to building confidence in himself and the possibility that he could change his life. He went to a yoga class. It was hot. He sweat. A lot. He could only do a few of the poses. But he enjoyed the challenge, and so he returned the next day. He stayed near the back so as not to be recognized. And he kept showing up.

As his confidence grew so did his belief in abundance. He was proof that you get more than one chance to do your life.

When Wayne arrived on my Alchemy Tours Yoga Retreat in Hawaii October 2012, and had left the old version of himself behind. He had practiced six days a week for nearly a year and lost over 35 lbs! He is the most energetic, friendly, upbeat outgoing person you will meet. And he doesn’t take one pill.

It is easy to get overwhelmed and think we are never going to get better. We can easily become paralyzed with seeing the world as unforgiving or lacking enough goodness for all of us.

IMG_1291A tantric view is one of seeing the good and believing that there is more than enough to go around. This means living from a paradigm of abundance.

The truth is the world is really a mirror of what we think of it. If you believe in abundance, then you are surrounded by prosperity and abundance.

It’s happened to all of us…. scarcity mentality, where we feel like we don’t have “enough.” Enough of what? Well, first of all, time. Then everything else.
Yoga can heal our relationship to abundance.

Your practice may include invoking Lakshmi, the goddess of Abundance and Prosperity through mantra, meditation, and setting intention. It is important to recognize that we are not asking for prevention of hardship. Instead, we are asking that we believe we have enough to persevere.

” Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers,
but to be fearless in facing them.
Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain,
but for the heart to conquer it.
Let me not crave in anxious fear to be saved,
but for the patience to win my freedom.”

And remember don’t beat yourself up if you fall back into the old habit of catastrophizing. Keep at it! As Wayne says, the worst thing that happened to him was that he had to buy an entirely new wardrobe! Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia
