What I have in my wallet right now?
I was taking time to organize my currencies.
What I saw was only New Zealand and Indonesia had #female faces. Indonesia has 3 different females represented in my few bills.
And as I looked front and back New Zealand and Costa Rica has a human on one side and an animal (eg bird) on the other side.
Indonesia has a Male on one side and female on the other.
USA was man on one side and building on the other. For USA I only had 10, 20, 100 dollar bills so I know there are more.
☮️ What’s in your wallet?
🕉 I learned from being a Human Resources Director with a specialism in recruiting that “like hires like.” We hire people that look and act most like us. We feel good about similiarities.
💜 I’m wondering how many female faces are represented on currencies worldwide? What is it that little girls, and us as women see every day? What people consider valuable is money. And this in your face message that was has the greatest value to society is represented mostly, and in some countries only by men must affect us.
What you see here: Colones from Costa Rica, Euros, rupiah from Indonesia, New Zealand dollars, Australian dollars, American dollars. 6 currencies.
How do we change something so fundamental?
Can we envision a day where our wallets look like the human race?
If women are half the population shouldn’t our currencies reflect and support that view?
Just an observation.
And no I didn’t try to make this scientific. I simply looked at what I had in my wallet. I didn’t try to dig up the outliers.
I just have to believe #thefutureisfemale and I can’t wait to “see” this mirrored fairly in ordinary every day life.
