I taught class today with this theme based upon one of my all time favorite mantras: Begin Again.
Every day we wake up and our hair is a mess, our bed is rumpled and what we do next matters. In the words of Robert Frost, “First thing I do in the morning is make up my bed. Then I make up my mind.”
Our beds, like our minds get rumpled and need tidying up over and over again. This requires perseverance. A tidy mind feels like mental peace.
We do this by using our breath or breathwork with the asana to tidy the mind. All that is required is that we show up every day determined to pay attention to our breath to organize our mental energies into a place of peace. Sometimes when we need to, using another favorite mantra from the Little Red Engine that Could ‘I think I can, I think I can.”
