“I’m so lucky,” I often say to myself as I look through the photos on my phone, remembering the beautiful places I’ve been and the incredible experiences I’ve had. One of those experiences was solo traveling to Nusa Penida, Bali, just before the world shut down due to the pandemic. Looking back, I’m so grateful that I didn’t postpone my adventures and that I took the chance to explore the world while I could.
But luck had very little to do with it. I made a conscious choice to pursue my love for travel and adventure, and it has enriched my life in countless ways. And yet, it’s easy to fall into the trap of waiting for the “perfect” time or the “right” circumstances before embarking on our journeys.
The truth is, the future is not guaranteed to anyone. If we wait for everything to be perfect before we start living our dreams, we may never get the chance to pursue them. We may miss out on amazing experiences and opportunities that would have enriched our lives in ways we could never imagine.
Traveling solo, in particular, can be a life-changing experience. It allows us to discover ourselves, test our limits, and gain a new perspective on the world. We have the freedom to explore at our own pace, meet new people, and challenge ourselves in ways we never thought possible.
Of course, the pandemic has made travel difficult in recent years, and the world has been slow to open back up to the same level of access we once had. But that doesn’t mean we should stop dreaming, planning, and preparing for future adventures. We can still make the most of what we have right now, whether that means exploring our own cities, taking road trips, or planning future trips.
We should never underestimate the power of adventure and exploration. Whether we’re traveling to new places or trying new things, we can expand our horizons, learn new skills, and discover hidden strengths within ourselves. So let’s not wait for the perfect time or the right circumstances. Let’s start exploring and living our dreams today.
