It’s been a big month including multiple opportunities to Start Over.
Last week I was 16 years old again as I got a new Illinois Drivers License. Not a renewal. I was treated no differently as my first time.
✅ Vision test
✅ Written test (now on a computer)
✅ Driving test
Appointment’s were limited for safety reasons. I woke up at 6am to see if I could get one of the appointments they release same day like a lottery. Also hoping it wouldn’t be two hours away.
Truth is, I haven’t driven in years.
My car was in California then shipped to #chicago November 2020 since I wasn’t sure I was staying in Florida. Before that I was living abroad.
When I returned stateside last year I only rode my bike in #stpetersburg 😊 Keeping to 10 mile radius.
I was really nervous about passing the tests and then thrilled to pass then all with perfect scores! 🎉
So much wasted worry energy.
➡️This was vitally important because I couldn’t drive my car back to Florida without a license. All next steps would only green light themselves based upon passing this step.
Ha! No pressure here!
🔥 This was also emotional as I was finally letting go of my PacNW identity from my Washington state license.
No longer am I somebody from the West coast.
That part is now in my rear view mirror.
🦋 The Art of Starting Over is my zone of genius as I’ve learned how to manage the transition point of holding on then letting go and beginning again.
That old license represented some years of terrible trauma and now I’m starting over and excited for the journey my new license (which may change again to a Florida one) will open up for me.
