In myth, Lakshmi, goddess of #abundance was born from the ocean of milk that the gods had churned for 1000 years. That “milk” is the sweetness of this world. From that ocean of being, all Fortune arises–hence Lakshmi arises.
Because people #desire and take pleasure in #fortune, she is also the Goddess of desire and pleasure, hence the #Tantrik goddess who is parallel to Lakshmi is called Kamakhya (a name whose root we know from Kama Sutra, a manual on the pursuit of desires).
We often find her depicted with four arms, which are symbolic of her fertility and power generally and specifically they are representative of the four aims of life: pleasure (kama), social responsibility (dharma), vocation (artha), and ultimate liberation (moksha). She holds #lotuses, symbols of the world’s #fertility.
Join me to learn and more importantly feel more of what turns you on. Connect back with the heart of your desires no matter what challenges have brought you here today.
What are you giving birth to this year? A new book, home, job?

“It is quite amazing how hard the subconscious works when it is made to understand that this life is not a rehearsal, there is no safety net and no assurance of any final closure. It is also quite appalling to realize how catatonic the imagination can become when we hedge our bets, opt for the safer direction at every fork in the path.” -John Burdett
Deeply grateful in my meditation for the #freedom to choose my direction from my highest self. I lead with my heart.
“For small creatures such as we the vastness is bearable only through love.”
— Carl Sagan
I only ever remember seeing the world with the eyes of my heart. My first teacher was my father. He taught me the beauty way: to fully investigate each moment. This moving meditation of being awake to grace is an every day practice. Here is a special moment gently caught through the lens of fellow moment gatherer Jim Beckwith.
It reminds me of my gratitude for my physical eyes to see. As well as love for my Uncle Gerardo, born blind, but who had incredibly strong vision from his heart.
And sister love to Bex Tyrer Yogini Peace Activist, who spoke of her 88 year old Father and the challenge it is to maintain ones eyesight as we age. #Ubud @YogaBarn #Bali
Maybe for small creatures such as we, we truly see most clearly thru the prism of love. And the point is to keep practicing.
Near Luang Prabang there are incredible waterfall hikes. Being near the power of the water inspires me to feel more FREE.
Everyday we have 2 choices: 1 to be in a good mood or 2 a bad mood. We are free to detach from stuff that causes agitation. Things like:
1. Thinking too hard
3. Torturing ourselves with the “what if’s”
Life is about choices. How we react, how we let people affect us, how we life our life, whether we choose to make our bodies strong and healthy from the inside out, whether or not we live from our hearts.
Playing with the waterfall naturally brought out backbends and heart openers for me.
The last photo is one of me drumming on the water where I sang Aham Prema (I am love) for 15 minutes. We are free to choose to give love. Love yourself, love your day, love your life! Silvia
