“Pilgrim, pilgrimage, and road – it was but myself toward my SELF, and your arrival was but myself at my own door.” – RUMI
❤️ Sutra: Sthira Sukum Asanam. (Effortless effort)
This fundamental Yoga Sutra of Pantanjali talks of cultivating sthira (steadiness, stability, firmness, seriousness) and sukha (gentleness, flexibility, softness, playfulness) in our mindfulness practice. The qualities denoted by these two sanskrit words can be applied to the whole of your meditation and yoga practice. Each pose should be steady and comfortable so much so that we find an effortless effort in life whereby the pose we take (walking, talking, sitting, driving) is both elegant and honest.
This practice of graceful effort means that some days it might be more difficult and some days it’s easy, just like life is filled with joyousness and setbacks. But the point is to take a consistently steady, but gentle, approach, to your mindfulness practice and your life.

It’s easy to ignore the signs of going too fast. The sleeplessness can be pushed aside, at least for a while. The increasing anxiety remedied by numbing out or ignoring it seems to work for bit, until it doesn’t. The aches and pains, waking up and feeling worried already. These are no normal ways to experience life. These are your body’s way of saying SLOW DOWN. All we have to do is pay attention.
Get off the treadmill and get back on the natural pace of life. Relearn how to relax and just be with what is happening around you without needing it to go faster. You’ll find out it’s the remedy to love yourself, love your day and love your life!

On the cusp of the Winter #solstice I renew my vow to remain empowered by the light of my soul and stay true to myself. I know the relationship I’m having with myself is mirrored back by the relationships I attract. If I honor my heart then I am modeling how I should be treated. Here’s to ☀️Growing the light! ☀️
“May the light within you guide your way on. Because when you look to the outside for light, there is a possibility that you may be blinded and exploited. But one thing shall never betray a woman: her own light and her own radiance as a woman. If the light within you can guide you, you will definitely excel. The time has come when this exploitation must stop. The time has come when a daughter should be treated as a daughter, a mother should be treated as a mother, a wife should be treated as a wife, and over and above all, woman should be treated as a woman.” -Yogi Bhajan
I bow to the longtime SUN.

Do You Choose Happiness or Truth?
In yogic terms Truth, known as Satya, can be defined on three levels: (1) that we speak the truth about what we think, (2) what we feel and (3) what we do. When we feel out of alignment, it is usually where there is a conflict between what we think and what we feel. When we aren’t honest we feel unsteady, anxious, and uprooted—everything that happiness is not.
In the Yoga Sutras Chapter 2.36, it is presented that if we are “dedicated to the truth and integrity, our thoughts, words and actions gain the power to manifest.” (Translation from Secret Power of Yoga by Nischala Joy Devi).
Truth is the destination, and happiness is the way to travel to get there.
The Yoga Sutras spell out that if we are not balanced mentally, physically, or emotionally, then we are not living our true, naturally happy potential.
Happiness is our birthright. Yoga teaches us that our true .

Happiness is in our genes. According to geneticists we have an “inborn” happiness set point of about 50 percent that we return to whether good or bad things happen. We have a 10 percent influence based on environmental factors and up to 40 percent that is affected by “intentional activity.” In pursuit of happiness here are my suggestions for making the most of this 40 percent:
6. Be Around Positive People Be mindful of who you let into your closest energy field. Many researchers in cognitive neuroscience propose that in human brain activity we have a system of imitating by way of “mirror” neurons. In a basic sense, this means the behavior of others may impact how we act and cause our minds to simulate observed actions. Negative influences can impact even the most positive people. Be empowered to foster friendships where you feel a balance between giving and receiving. High-vibe friends will support your intentions to elevate yourself and the world. Those with consistently negative vibes you may want to reconsider.

“For just one second, look at your life and see how perfect it is. Stop looking for the next secret door that is going to lead you to your real life. Stop waiting. This is it: there’s nothing else. It’s here, and you’d better decide to enjoy it or you’re going to be miserable wherever you go, for the rest of your life, forever.” ― Lev Grossman, The Magicians

“I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. He taught me that if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good. Hot is no good either. White hot and passionate is the only thing to be.” – Roald Dahl
