Please Don’t Wait

What I want you to know is…

Don’t Wait.

I’ve waited too long for most things.

It’s ok on some levels like where I was a late bloomer.

But I’m talking about waiting until everything was perfect or
waiting for the right time,
waiting for him to show up,
waiting to say I love you,
waiting for him to be ready,
waiting for the right age,
waiting for enough money,
waiting to have a baby,
waiting for a sign,
waiting until I wasn’t so busy,
waiting until I gained confidence or
waiting until I lost five pounds,
waiting until I received approval,
waiting until they said I could,
waiting until there was time,
waiting until my marriage got better,
waiting for my birthday,
waiting until Spring Break,
waiting until Summer,
waiting to move away from snowy Winters,
waiting to travel somewhere I’d never been like Australia or Greece or New Zealand,
waiting until I got that big break,
waiting for the tipping point,
waiting for others to go first,
waiting for the weather,
waiting until I knew enough people,
waiting to take a chance on love,
waiting until I had proof it would all work out,
waiting until I had enough knowledge,
waiting until I knew enough, was accomplished enough, was successful enough, or
waiting until it would be easy.

What are you waiting for?

“Twenty Years From Now You Will Be More Disappointed By The Things You Didn’t Do Than By The Ones You Did Do.” -Mark Twain

What I learned is that time will run out. People don’t really talk much about this anymore it seems. But the reality is that “right timing” is vitally important. We can’t just lead energy we must follow it too, and be awake enough to tell when to choose one over the other. I have run out in certain ways and my hope is that I can save you from doing the same thing.

The biggest regrets in my life relate to waiting. I waited for my marriage to get better. It was incredibly toxic and denied my chances to have a baby for all those years. I waited until I met the right guy to have a family when I could have looked at doing it on my own. I waited to move from snowy winters because I was afraid of disappointing my family. I waited to travel to Australia and New Zealand until last year.

Right now is the time to wake-up and choose how you want to live your life. At any time you have full access to what I call a Passion Passport. There is no lengthy application process or special visa you have to apply for. There is no waiting period.

It’s yours right now.

Let’s get started.

You can come along with me for the ride. You can even sit next to me in the front seat.

But you have to promise you will get out at the right stop for you to continue your own journey guided by your true north. Admire my life, be inspired by it even, but stay focused on filling your own passport.

Well buckle up, it’s going to be an incredible journey where we will meet amazing people and experience incredible beauty and slay dragons and get lost and get found. Expect tears and laughter to be shared. You’ll be left wondering and delighted and face fears you didn’t know you had.

But you’ll feel more alive than ever because each day is sparked with joy. Don’t wait.

Let my life be both a warning and an example.

Start before you’re ready, right here, right now.

And today, please tell the people you care about you LOVE them. For this we must never ever wait.

Love yourself, love your day, love your life,

What is the Key Obstacle to a Happier Life?

Beloved #Bali Monday Musings: The biggest obstacle to a happier life is our own busy mind.
Once we access that contented, peaceful state that yoga and meditation bring, we no longer struggle in our thoughts.
Then we can actually remember we already have the key to our joy. It’s right here, right now.
.
Or as Danna Faulds puts it so poetically…
“Within us lie the answers to our deepest questions and the antidote for all our fears.
The divine is not an abstraction – it’s as clear and intimate as a heartbeat or a whisper.
.
For me, what Bali helped me rediscover was the quiet within my own mind but in a deeper way than ever before. The culture is based in Gratitude, and the Balinese people are tender hearted, generous and live in the present moment. They are anchored to peace in the now. It is the mirroring neurons at work, or vibrational energy at its best, and it works. It’s why I go back to live year after year.
.
I’m excited for Jenny from Canada who just signed up for our #Bali #yogaretreat April 22-29! She joins an amazing tribe. We have 3 spots left with @hajibasimmusic and me and that’s all. If you’ve tried a lot of other stuff to get back to a calm mind and none of it has worked that well then why not try this. Get “unbusy” and Let Love Lead you to Bali to #growyourhappy forever more. I’d love that. 🙂

Advice Create a Life You Don’t Need a Vacation From

I learned this philosophy first from my Father. His advice was to create a life you don’t need a vacation from. It’s that difference between living to work or working to live.

My dedication to you as a Happiness Coach is to pass on the advice I’ve learned. Today I am sharing 3 ways to create a life you don’t need a vacation from.

I started applying these early in my life and have made heroic changes to allow myself to keep living in this manner. If I can do it so can you.

  1. Be Flexible.

  2. Simplify Your Life.

  3. Get in the Right Frame of Mind (all the time).

FIRST: Be Flexible
Think about the qualities and conditions of the places you like to vacation in regularly. In order to open up the circumstances of living like you’re on vacation you must be flexible enough to move from where you live now. Also learn to be flexible in what you think you “must have” as part of your regular lifestyle. For instance, do you really need 19 choices for Milk (or milk substitutes) when you go grocery shopping? If you’re able to be a bit more flexible then consider moving somewhere that affords you the qualities of a vacation place, if not as many milk options. As far as what you do to make a living, is it possible to be more flexible in “how” or where you do this work? Could you consider telecommuting, or other work options that let you be more open to living in places you love.

SECOND: Simplify Your Life.
Take inventory of what are the “must haves” in your life and lifestyle. Now update your personal monthly, annual budget. Look to see where you’re money goes. You’d be surprised when you look honestly at what your must haves are and where your money goes there are usually places where you could streamline. By that I mean there are a lot of budget items that are “nice to haves” but you don’t need them. Start there in simplifying your life. When you weight out your happiness and whether or not money buys you happiness it will come clear that you don’t need at least a third of what you have. And certainly the aha moments come when you realize the must haves that you love about your life cost little to no money like watching a sunset, being able to live year round in flip flops, going for walks on a beach.

THIRD: Get in the Right Frame of Mind.
What is the greatest difference between our home life and our vacation life is often the way we think. I was married to someone that would become a different person on vacation, I loved that guy, he was easy going, peaceful, relaxed, fun to be with. What’s your day to day attitude towards making the ordinary things more extraordinary? On vacation we will have the mindset of being more open, adventurous, fun loving, active. Why not try living with that same frame of mind at home. Make every day a vacation by changing your attitude towards it. Instead of going to the same places over and over, get curious and drive a new way, walk more, get on a bike and explore, go somewhere new that’s nearby. Live and be led by the way you think on vacation and notice everything lights up around you.

Why I Felt Ashamed of Being in Love with Love

“I am in love with love
and love is in love with me.”
-Rumi

Even my elementary school friends new this to be true about me. Even earlier, I’m certain my Ecuadorian Grandmother knew this. She was from the angel realm and deeply connected to spirit. She saw my essence was as a #Bhakti Yogi, way before I knew what that was. ❤️
This month I’ve been at my Mom’s house going thru boxes of school girl treasures including old diaries. I also found my drawings and paintings all inspired by #love. My girlhood days were spent in love with love. I wrote about love, thought about love, drew what love felt like, played piano like love, danced with love and smiled to send love to the sun.

In some way I recall each day completely absorbed in making love my world. This sounds just like meditation which is first described in the Yoga Sutras by Pantanjali in chapter 1 verse 2 as “yoga happens when your mind becomes quiet.” That was the way I would describe the impact love had on me in those days and now. In the eight limbed path of yoga focusing away from the distractions of too many pulls of energy is pratayhara, meditation known as dhyana in sanskrit is the 6th limb, the 7th limb is dharana ‘the art of concentration” and finally enlightenment, bliss state is samadhi.

Samadhi means ecstasy. Yes, for certain I’ve felt these altered moments of bliss when in love with love, experiencing it, receiving it, offering it, surrounding myself with it. All four of these aspects of the eight limbed path of yoga can be considered “meditation.”

At some point I remember starting to feel embarrassed for Loving love and my devotion became more secretive. Somehow I thought it wasn’t “normal” to pray about love so much. Focusing my time and energy on love I heard through societal messaging wasn’t serious or important enough. I was shamed by other comments that it was a “girl thing” as if being engaged with the sacred feminine was a negative.
.
❤️ My #meditation and #yoga practice freed me up from the shame I carried feeling afraid that I loved love too much. I learned an entire philosophy around love and was able to intellectually prove its value.
.
It was by meditating (same thing I did as a girl, concentrating daily and holding attention to a single source) that I purposely devoted my life life to the #dharma of love.
.
This is why I define myself as a LOVE #Alchemist.
.
We can all use more time mediating about love in all ways: self-love, universal love, soulmate love.

I Promise my Father I’ll Make Love my World

“Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes. Because for those that love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation.” -Rumi

It’s coming up on exactly to the day Papa has been gone 22 years from this earthly realm. Every year I use this time between January 1st (a a new cycle around the sun) and the February 9th anniversary to renew my dedication to falling in Love with myself, with my day, with my life.
.
I promise him I’ll make LOVE, my world. ❤️
I will see with Love, breathe with Love, act with Love.
Everything I feel, think, say or do will come from love.
I also commit to going deeper into my heart than ever before, removing any barriers to love from my being.
I vow to not half love anything, only loving fully and keeping the light within my soul as bright as possible.
.
These things I promise my Father for I’ve never said goodbye. He’s always here with me every single day into the infinite.

I am his living legacy. The responsibility of this is a powerful motivator for me to live from my highest self and do the work to be my best me. My love for Papa always reminds me to think about how I’m showing up in the world. And am I doing so in the most loving way?

He taught me so many lessons while alive and has never stopped just because he left his human body. His spirit has continued to be my greatest teacher.

I love you Papa.

Play is My Intention for 2018

I keep my heart young and stoke by rebel spirit through #SacredFun. 2018 is dedicated to PLAY. I’m engaged fully with Lila Tandava (‘lee-la’ ‘tan-duh-vah’) which is defined as the “playful and divine dance of life.”
.
PLAY is the Highest form of research.
-Albert Einstein
.
PLAY is our brain’s favorite way of learning.
-Diane Ackerman, American author
.
PLAY is not frivolous. It is not a luxury.
It is not something to fit in after all the important stuff.
Play IS the important stuff.
Play is a drive, a need, a brain building must-do.

-Jeff Johnson and Denita Dinger, Let Them Play
.
Life must be lived as PLAY.
-Plato
.
.
The dance of Lila Tandava is a cultivation which includes curiosity, participation and witnessing. A spiritually guided process of unfolding ourselves into richer layers of beingness and becoming. A process that allows us to become more embodied, more full of our own inner fire, joy and self expression. If you’re not doing something every day that brings you a sense of play, ask yourself, Why not? Enjoying pleasure is important to your mental and physical health. You can’t be truly happy without pleasure. It’s the catalyst for a series of biochemical reactions in your brain and body. Primarily, it is the release of the #love hormone, #oxytocin that brings radiance, fluidity, positivity, and an underlying sense of well being.
This isn’t a luxury. This is the important stuff.
.
Heed the advice of Einstein, Plato, and others and make time to PLAY!

My Hero’s Journey Mordini Musings 1

I have been on my own Hero’s Journey these last few years. It has been a long and difficult cycle filled with great joy as well as immense pain. I have at times been so thoroughly tested that I was brought to my knees thinking I would never recover. I’ve met tricksters along the way that stole all my money, my writings, and attempted to steal my soul. I actually died in a cycling accident that I still don’t speak about fully. I almost died of a broken heart while engaged with a shapeshifter and as a result was forced to face the darkest of shadows within myself. I have been privileged to be reborn anew in this same lifetime and am infinitely grateful. I have met guardians and allies that I treasure beyond words. I have found along this arduous path the way to the honeyed center of my heart of hearts. I have met with the heart of the universe and am forever indebted to the divine love that underlies the heartbeat of the world. As of January 2018 I have completed the cycle of 12 steps and am returning to the world of the known once more.

You can follow along here on my Love Your Day blog this month as I recount the stories of my life by these 12 steps. I return with the elixir. For me the elixir I have brought back to the world are the words I choose to share about my most authentic and vulnerable experiences. I have magic (so do you) and I am ready more than ever before to share these love potions. I call them Happiness Prescriptions. #HappinessRx

I hope my story will give you hope to never give up no matter how dark life seems at times. I truly wish to inspire you with the truth of what is possible. Honestly, if I can do it then so can you. Thank you for listening as I continue to the best I can to live my dharma.

Love yourself, love your day, love your life,
Catalina Silvia Mordini

The Hero’s Journey: To download this go here.
1. Heroes are introduced in the ORDINARY WORLD, where
2. they receive the CALL TO ADVENTURE.
3. They are RELUCTANT at first or REFUSE THE CALL, but
4. are encouraged by a MENTOR to
5. CROSS THE FIRST THRESHOLD and enter the Special World, where
6. they encounter TESTS, ALLIES, AND ENEMIES.
7. They APPROACH THE INMOST CAVE, crossing a second threshold
8. where they endure the ORDEAL.
9. They take possession of their REWARD and
10. are pursued on THE ROAD BACK to the Ordinary World.
11. They cross the third threshold, experience a RESURRECTION, and are transformed
by the experience.
12. They RETURN WITH THE ELIXIR, a boon or treasure to benefit the Ordinary
World.

The Seven Archetypes:
1. Hero: “The Hero is the protagonist or central character, whose primary purpose is to separate from the ordinary world and sacrifice himself for the service of the Journey at hand – to answer the challenge, complete the quest and restore the Ordinary World’s balance. We experience the Journey through the eyes of the Hero.”

2. Mentor: “The Mentor provides motivation, insights and training to help the Hero.”

3. Threshold Guardian: “Threshold Guardians protect the Special World and its secrets
from the Hero, and provide essential tests to prove a Hero’s commitment and worth.”

4. Herald: “Herald characters issue challenges and announce the coming of significant
change. They can make their appearance anytime during a Journey, but often appear at the beginning of the Journey to announce a Call to Adventure. A character may wear the Herald’s mask to make an announcement or judgment, report a news flash, or simply deliver a message.”

5. Shapeshifter: “The Shapeshifter’s mask misleads the Hero by hiding a character’s intentions and loyalties.”

6. Shadow: “The Shadow can represent our darkest desires, our untapped resources, or even rejected qualities. It can also symbolize our greatest fears and phobias. Shadows may not be all bad, and may reveal admirable, even redeeming qualities. The Hero’s enemies and villains often wear the Shadow mask. This physical force is determined to destroy the Hero and his cause.”

7. Trickster: “Tricksters relish the disruption of the status quo, turning the Ordinary World into chaos with their quick turns of phrase and physical antics. Although they may not change during the course of their Journeys, their world and its inhabitants are transformed by their antics. The Trickster uses laughter [and ridicule] to make characters see the absurdity of the situation, and perhaps force a change.”

The Twelve Stages of the Journey
1. Ordinary World: “The Hero’s home, the safe haven upon which the Special World
and the Journey’s outcome must be compared.” The Journey begins in the Ordinary
World, travels to the Special World, and returns to the Ordinary World.

2. Call to Adventure: The Call to Adventure sets the story rolling by disrupting the
comfort of the Hero’s Ordinary World, presenting a challenge or quest that must be
undertaken.

3. Refusal of the Call: “A Hero often refuses [or is reluctant] to take on the Journey
because of fears and insecurities that have surfaced from the Call to Adventure. The Hero may not be willing to make changes, preferring the safe haven of the Ordinary World. This becomes an essential stage that communicates the risks involved in the Journey that lies ahead. Without risks and danger or the likelihood of failure, the audience will not be compelled to be a part of the Hero’s Journey.”

4. Meeting with the Mentor: “The Hero meets a Mentor to gain confidence, insight, advice, training, or magical gifts to overcome the initial fears and face the Threshold of the adventure. The Mentor may be a physical person, or an object such as a map, a logbook, or other writing.”

5. Crossing the Threshold: “Crossing the threshold signifies that the Hero has finally committed to the Journey. He is prepared to cross the gateway that separates the Ordinary World from the Special World.”

6. Tests, Allies, Enemies: “Having crossed the threshold, the Hero faces Tests, encounters Allies, confronts Enemies, and learns the rules of this Special World. The Hero needs to find out who can be trusted. Allies are earned, a Sidekick may join up, or an entire Hero Team forged. The Hero must prepare himself for the greater Ordeals yet to come and needs this stage to test his skills and powers, or perhaps seek further training from the Mentor. This Initiation into this Special World also tests the Hero’s commitment to the Journey, and questions whether he can succeed.”

7. Approach to the Inmost Cave: “The Hero must make the preparations needed to approach the Inmost Cave that leads to the Journey’s heart, or central Ordeal. Maps may be reviewed, attacks planned, a reconnaissance launched, and possibly the enemies forces whittled down before the Hero can face his greatest fear, or the supreme danger lurking in the Special World.” The Approach may be a time for some romance or a few jokes before the battle, or it may signal a ticking clock or a heightening of the stakes.

8. Ordeal: “The Hero engages in the Ordeal, the central life-or-death crisis, during which he faces his greatest fear, confronts his most difficult challenge, and experiences “death”. His Journey teeters on the brink of failure. The Ordeal is the central magical Stage of any Journey. Only through “death” can the Hero be reborn, experiencing a resurrection that grants greater power or insight to see the Journey to the end.”

9. Reward (Seizing the Sword): “The Hero has survived death, overcome his greatest fear, slain the dragon, or weathered the crisis of the heart, and now earns the Reward that he has sought. The Hero’s Reward comes in many forms: a magical sword, an elixir, greater knowledge or insight, reconciliation with a lover. Whatever the treasure, the Hero has earned the right to celebrate. The Hero may have earned the Reward
outright, or the Hero may have seen no option but to steal it. The Hero may rationalize this Elixir theft, having paid for it with the tests and ordeals thus far. But the consequences of the theft must be confronted as the Shadow forces race to reclaim the Elixir that must not see the light of the Ordinary World.”

10. The Road Back: “The Hero must finally recommit to completing the Journey and accept the Road Back to the Ordinary World. A Hero’s success in the Special World may make it difficult to return. Like Crossing the Threshold, The Road Back needs an event that will push the Hero through the Threshold, back into the Ordinary World. The Event should re-establish the Central Dramatic Question, pushing the Hero to action and heightening the stakes. The Road Back may be a moment when the Hero must choose between the Journey of a Higher Cause verses the personal Journey of the Heart.”

11. Resurrection: “The Hero faces the Resurrection, his most dangerous meeting with death. This final life-or-death Ordeal shows that the Hero has maintained and can apply all that he has brought back to the Ordinary World. This Ordeal and Resurrection can represent a “cleansing” or purification that must occur now that the Hero has emerged from the land of the dead. The Hero is reborn or transformed with the attributes of the Ordinary self in addition to the lessons and insights from the characters he has met along the road. The Resurrection may be a physical Ordeal, or final showdown between the Hero and the Shadow. This battle is for much more than the Hero’s life. Other lives, or an entire world may be at stake and the Hero must now prove that he has achieved Heroic status and willingly accept his sacrifice for the benefit of the Ordinary World. Other Allies may come to the last minute rescue to lend assistance, but in the end the Hero must rise to the sacrifice at hand. He must deliver the blow that destroys the Death Star (Star Wars), or offer his hand and accept the “magic” elixir of love.”

12. Return with the Elixir: “The Return with the Elixir is the final Reward earned on the Hero’s Journey. The Hero has been resurrected, purified and has earned the right to be accepted back into the Ordinary World and share the Elixir of the Journey. The true Hero returns with an Elixir to share with others or heal a wounded land. The Elixir can be a great treasure or magic potion. It could be love, wisdom, or simply the experience of having survived the Special World. Even the tragic end of a Hero’s Journey can yield the best elixir of all, granting the audience greater awareness of us and our world (Citizen Kane).”
