Monday Mantra Lakshmi

I start my Monday with Mantra. I sing and play. I write. I sing and play. Repeat.

Singing to Lakshmi, invoking her energetic spirit of graceful happiness into my life with this song:

Om Namo Lakshmi, Prema Devi Mataji

oṃ: The eternal source-sound-vibration of creation.

namo: (Same as “namaha”) To honor, celebrate or recognize with respect.

lakshmī: Goddess of love, prosperity (both material and spiritual), wealth, and the embodiment of beauty. Her husband is Vishnu. And Rama and Krishna are incarnations of Vishnu.

premā: Love

devī: Goddess. “Prema Devi” together means the “Goddess of Love.”

mā/mātā: Mother

mātājī: “-ji” is used at the end of a name to show respect, for she is the One Who is Mother Earth and She is the One Who nourishes you.

Word break down above offered by my brother at Bhakti Breakfast Club

More about the Meaning of Lakshmi

lakshmi harmonium Feb

To be devoted to Lakshmi means I welcome her sweetness into my every breath. I feel happy when my heart is aligned with her tenderness. She is the ultimate Mother, the divine Ma, Mataji, who nurtures me when I need her most.

She is holding lotus blossoms and rising out from inside one to remind me to move beyond limitations, and find joy in what makes me unique in the world.

The lotus is one of the most beautiful flowers in the world and is a symbol of compassion, wisdom, and spiritual growth. It is an ancient symbol of our planet. Growing in muddy waters, and rising above the surface to bloom with remarkable beauty, at night the flower closes and sinks under water, rising again at dawn. It reminds us to reconnect to natural Spiritual Rhythm: harmony between dynamic and static masculine and feminine energies within us.

Invoking Lakshmi helps inspire me to restore balance to my inner and outer worlds. As well as to make time to enjoy the beauty that is all around us play, flow and feel elegance in movement!

ABOUT KIRTAN

“Kirtan is an ancient bhakti yoga practice using sacred song and the fuel of our emotions as an expression of devotion and heart-felt prayer. The word kirtan literally translates into “chanting the names of the divine to praise the infinite source, the One who orchestrates all.” ~ Govindas
